Symptoms

Key points to remember.

  • Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms.
  • Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions seem to be at a higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness.

There is a wide range of symptoms that have been reported.

Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus.

Possible symptoms are but not limited to:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Seek emergency medical attention immediately if you are showing any of the following symptoms:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion
  • Inability to wake or stay awake
  • Bluish lips or face

Five important ways to stay safe:

  • Wear a mask.
  • Stay at least 6 feet from others.
  • Avoid indoor spaces as much as possible.
  • Wash your hands.
  • Use soap and water for 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public space or hand sanitizer if soap and water aren't available.

What to do if you test positive for COVID-19:

  • Stay home
  • Only go out to get medical care.
  • Quarantine/Isolate yourself.

Remember, that even if you do not have any symptoms you can still spread COVID-19 to others.
